Series Educational Objectives:
1. Describe the referral process for infants, children, and/or adolescents with various tertiary pediatric disorders.
2. Perform, or order, the most appropriate physical examination, laboratory test, radiologic test, treatment, or follow-up to offer the diverse pediatric patients and their families.
3. Review use of uncommonly used, but critically important devices, tools, medications, and protocols.
4. Use current evidence based literature in the pediatric practice.
5. Implement sensitive and appropriate communication with parents and/or legal guardians regarding treatment options and referral to specialists.


Session Educational Objectives:
As a result of attending this session, clinicians will be better able to:

1. Identify newborn rashes potentially associated with systemic disease.
2. Discuss and implement initial management of these newborn rashes, including appropriate differential diagnosis, tests, imaging, treatment, and communication to parents.
3. Appropriately refer newborn rashes to dermatology and identify the possible role of other specialists (hematology, cardiology) in evaluation and/or follow-up.
