DSA 2023|The Health Equity Effects of Abortion Access Restriction
Current Situation
There are current significant health inequities within women's health care including chronic health condition care,
contraception uptake, abortion care utilization, and pregnancy related morbidity and mortality. Additionally, there is
limited understanding among providers both in and out of women's health regarding the current legal landscape
around abortion care. Additionally, there is limited understanding of the implications of abortion access restrictions on
Women's Health Inequities.
Desired Practice
The aim of this presentation is to educate physicians and health care providers on current women's health inequities,
and the implications of restrictive legislation around abortion care on these inequities. The hope is to empower
physicians to provide equitable health care to all women, and find small ways to address these health disparities in
their own practice.
Target Audience
Physicians: especially OBGYN physicians, and any physicians who regularly provide care to reproductive age women
(Internal Medicine, Family medicine, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists)
