Case presented for rare presentation of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) case was not recognized and patient has multiple admissions related to its complications. The triad of hemolytic anemia, pancytopenia, and thrombosis makes PNH a unique clinical syndrome.
The name of the disorder is a descriptive term for the clinical consequence of red blood cell (RBC) breakdown with release of hemoglobin into the urine, which manifests most prominently as dark-colored urine in the morning. The goal of presenting this case is to early recognition and diagnosis of PNH. Reduction of readmissions due to delay in diagnosis, or reduction in mortality/morbidity.
