NSA 3/9/23 ED: Update in Medical Management of Heart Failure

Course Description:

Management of chronic heart failure (CHF) is becoming more nuanced and specific since the development of newer inpatient treatments like SGLT2, Ivabradine, and Entresto (used to treat CHF w/ reduced ejection fraction). There are also new updates in evidence based-inpatient treatments of heart failure with preserved EF and heart failure with reduced EF that out clinicians should be aware of. Furthermore, ,management of refractory right sided heart failure will be discussed to provide physicians withy tips on how to manage this difficult condition. 

Desired Practice:

Inpatient evidence-based management of congestive heart failure with focus on newer therapies. 

Target Audience

Napa/Solano Emergency and Internal Medicine Department physicians. 

Learning Objectives

1. Inpatient treatment for heart failure with reduced EF particularly newer therapies including SGLT2, Ivabradine and Entresto (indications to start inpatient, what to watch for) 

2. Evidence based inpatient treatment for heart failure with preserved EF and hoe it differs from heart failure with reduced EF

3. Briefly advanced refractory heart failure therapies and right-sided chronic heart failure and any therapies in addition to diuresis for EHF
