Target Audience

Physicians

Learning Objectives

As a result of this CME activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Define the facility policies and procedures, JCAHO regulations, and the California state laws that govern procedural sedation.
  2. Administer procedural sedation agents according to recognized clinical practice standards.
  3. Recognize adverse outcomes and determine strategies for patient management.
  4. Perform appropriate rescue breathing techniques.
  5. Demonstrate patient monitoring and use of equipment used during procedural sedation.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in skills and knowledge in compliance with Kaiser Permanente credentialing standards.
