Surgical Safety Summit, 12/05/19
OR Physicians and Staff
At the end of this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Improve the wellness of peri-operative staff in the Main OR and on L+D by sharing and
learning about the day to day work and stresses among staff who are responsible for patient
or equipment handoffs to each other
2. Encourage a culture of empathy and quality in the peri-op teams in order to focus on
achieving Highly Reliable Surgical Teams
3. Review the experience of patients who are coming to the hospital for surgery in order to
emphasize that this is a highly unusual and stressful day even though the peri-op staff are
smoothly performing their daily responsibilities.
