The relationship between oral health and systemic health is commonly not realized and there is a need for oral health literacy for clinicians in order to bridge the gap between oral health and overall health.

The effects of climate change to our health is not being discussed with patients. 

For all physicians to be able to discuss with their patients how climate change is affecting their health and what can be done to prevent this from continuing. 

Current Situation: 30% of antibiotics prescribed are unnecessary

Desired Practice: Right antibiotic for right condition, right dose and right duration

Clinicians are not considering TB in the differential diagnosis leading to increased spread. Clinicians are also not following guidelines for window prophylaxis. There is also a delay in reporting suspect TB cases to public health.

Twenty percent of the physicians in Central Valley Department of Pediatrics are newly hired and need to be trained in performing ingrown toenail removal. The rest of the group also needs a refresher training in performing this procedure.

Clinicians are referring patients with resistant hypertension and chronic kidney disease to nephrology without evaluating possible etiologies of resistant hypertension and attempted treatment per recent guidelines.  

Emergency Dept Journal Club- 06.05.2019

Continues to provide emergency medicine providers with up to date data and recommendations pertaining to common complaints cared for in the emergency department setting.  Many are review articles aiming to establish a best practice among emergency medicine physicians.

ED Department Session: Cardiology: STEMI update

Door to balloon times are very important in the treatment of acute ST elevation MI.  Currently, our medical center is nearly maintaining national average with respect to door to balloon times.  The Emergency Department is a crucial component to these times and there have been many cases that delay in diagnosis or delay in obtaining EKG's have led to prolonged door to balloon times.  This session helps to identify and rectify these pitfalls and improve overall care of patients with acute STEMI.

CVA-2019 Emergency Department Clinical Improvement Series

Currently, there is a wide variety of treatment and management of many disease processes in the Emergency Department.  These management variations stem from differences in ED physician training, updates to current treatment guidelines, and TPMG specific practice habits.  This leads to patient confusion and a breakdown in communication and collaboration among consulting services
