Physicians, NPs and PAs - Pediatrics
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
As a result of this CME activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify high risk patients/families who would benefit from genetic screening including those with abnormal newborn screen, inherited disorders, developmental delay, and family history of cancer.
- Recognize available testing modalities for screening of suspected genetic diseases in pediatric patients and review AAP guidelines for pediatric genetic screening.
- Identify limitations of privately available genetic screening tests, and address parent questions and concerns about these tests.
- Recognize the role of Genomics in Pediatrics.
SERIES OBJECTIVES:
- Associate current literature, standards, therapies, and treatments to the management and care of in-hospital and critical pediatric patients.
- Utilize best practices identified in conference discussions in caring for pediatric inpatients.
- Integrate information on appropriate diagnostic measures in the management of pediatric patients.
