TARGET AUDIENCE:

Physicians, NPs and PAs - Pediatrics

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

As a result of this CME activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Identify high risk patients/families who would benefit from genetic screening including those with abnormal newborn screen, inherited disorders, developmental delay, and family history of cancer.
  2. Recognize available testing modalities for screening of suspected genetic diseases in pediatric patients and review AAP guidelines for pediatric genetic screening.
  3. Identify limitations of privately available genetic screening tests, and address parent questions and concerns about these tests.
  4. Recognize the role of Genomics in Pediatrics.
SERIES OBJECTIVES:
  1. Associate current literature, standards, therapies, and treatments to the management and care of in-hospital and critical pediatric patients.
  2. Utilize best practices identified in conference discussions in caring for pediatric inpatients.
  3. Integrate information on appropriate diagnostic measures in the management of pediatric patients.
