Multiple specialists are involved with the care of oncology patients. Optimal  care of patients with malignancy requires input from surgery, oncology, pathology and other specialists. Not all physicians are aware of the latest developments in specialties that are outside of their primary area of expertise. Multidisciplinary individualized optimized treatment planning for all patients diagnosed with cancer at our medical center.

Target Audience: Internal Medicine (like Gastroenterology, Medical Oncologists/Hematology, Pulmonology), Pathology, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery and other specialists involved in the care of oncology patients.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Identify and use the best treatment pathway for relevant cancer patients through a multi-disciplinary team approach.
2. Implement recommendations from case presentations to improve evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

Cultural and Linguistic Competency:

Patients with language barriers have difficulty understanding complex cancer treatment plans, leading to miscommunications or non-compliance with treatment. Through Tumor Board, we will encourage the use of in-person or video interpreters when we see patients in-clinic.
