Corroborate findings on radiological scans with evidence in literature to support the findings. We updated our practice based on the latest Kaiser Permanente adnexal mass guidelines. As a result of this conference more providers are compliant with the recommended workflow including ordering the CA 125 for adnexal masses in postmenopausal women to improve ovarian cancer detection shared evidence based practices to collaborate on follow up plans for patients. Reviewed classic findings of ectopic pregnancy to assist with earlier suspicion/diagnosis in office with bedside ultrasounds. Certain scans not available at certain times due to rad/tech support or sonographer availability can lead to ordering a different type of scan, incomplete history or medical record of patient menopausal status patients with socioeconomic barriers may choose not to follow up with recommended imaging intervals due to the costs involved in copays or transportation to appointments, inadequate communication between various departments can impair continuity for patients who need follow up imaging. Covering radiologists may not be familiar with Kaiser adnexal mass guidelines for reporting.

Target Audience: Obstetricians/Gynecologists and Radiologists

  1. Correlate clinical exam with radiological findings.
  2. Discuss updates in scanning techniques and new recommendations to evaluate certain disease processes including appropriate use of tumor markers.
  3. Improve communications between specialties to better interpret radiological findings.
